Emergency Management (OEM)

EMERGENCIES HAPPEN. Help Make Middlesex Ready.

Disasters can happen at any time and the government may not be able to meet the needs of the community immediately, but there is something that community members can do about it.

The Office of Emergency Management’s responsibility is in the organization and management of resources for dealing with all aspects of emergencies, in particular mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. Emergency management involves plans, structures and arrangements established to engage the normal endeavours of government, voluntary and private agencies in a comprehensive and coordinated way to respond to the whole spectrum of emergency needs.

We know that disaster preparedness works. We can take action now that will help protect our families, reduce the impact an emergency has on our lives, and deal with the chaos if an incident occurs near us. These actions are at the heart of what we do. Being prepared is best achieved by your participation in Community and Family Preparedness to better protect all in times of disaster. We are an ALL volunteer organization and in need of personnel to volunteer their services.

The Office of Emergency Management is involved in all major fire, chemical, police, and act of god incidents. It is our job to assist all emergency service organizations in a support function, as well as provide assistance as needed to the citizens of Middlesex. Other than disasters we are heavily involved in all community events. None of these operations could be accomplished without the dedicated volunteers associated with the Office of Emergency Management. It is their diligence and dedication as well as the other emergency service organizations, volunteer or paid, which make Middlesex Borough what it is.

The continuation of this organization depends on volunteers who are interested in helping their community. Training is free. If you are interested in volunteering your time and assisting our community, please leave a message at 732.356.7900 or contact a member of the Office of Emergency Management.

Disaster can strike at any time. We all have a personal responsibility to be ready. Help us preserve our future.
