Volunteers

Volunteer Natalie Nguyen, OEM

Natalie was kind enough to answer many questions for us! She has much to share about her volunteer experience in Middlesex:

1. What inspired you to become a volunteer?

“I chose to become a volunteer because of my desire to engage in activities that not only benefited me but also made a positive impact on others. The prospect of developing new skills and establishing connections with fellow volunteers drew me towards volunteering as a fulfilling and enriching pursuit.”

2. What do you enjoy most about volunteering?

“I enjoy the satisfaction of giving back to my community and assisting others the most by volunteering. Knowing that I am making a positive impact on those in my surroundings fills me with a sense of accomplishment, and contributing to a cause I deeply care about leaves me feeling fulfilled.”

3. What skills have you gained or developed through volunteering?

“Volunteering has equipped me with enhanced communication skills, fostering a greater comfort level when collaborating with others, particularly in team settings. This gradual process has bolstered my self-confidence and nurtured the growth of my leadership abilities. Consequently, I've honed my capacity to adapt to new challenges and problem-solving situations.”

4. What advice would you give to someone interested in volunteering?

“I recommend people interested in volunteering to seek out volunteer opportunities that are aligned with their interests and passions, as this not only enhances enjoyment but can also be personally enriching. Starting locally is a prudent approach, allowing them to discover volunteer roles that resonate with their interests. While the initial steps may feel daunting, not knowing where to begin, embracing this uncertainty can lead to more experience and a broader perspective.“
