HIRING ANNOUNCEMENT – POLICE OFFICER
The Middlesex Borough Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Applicants must be of high moral character and aptitude. A copy of the candidate's Police Training Certificate or eligibility is to accompany each resume, along with a completed Preliminary Application.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
All applicants must meet the qualifications as specified in N.J.S.A. 40A:14-122.
In addition, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
Applicant must be a resident of the State of New Jersey at the time of appointment.
Applicant must be at least 21 years of age and no more than 35 years of age at the time of appointment.
Applicant must have a valid New Jersey driver’s license at the time of appointment.
Applicant must an approved combination of one or more of the following:
a minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited college or university, or
a minimum of four years of active duty in the United States Armed Forces, or
three years of employment as a certified police officer through the NJ Police Training Commission
Applicant must possess a current Police Training Commission (PTC) BCPO certificate, PTC Class II Waiver eligibility / GAP Program eligibility, or be currently enrolled in the Alternate Route Program in a PTC certified State of NJ Police Academy; successfully pass a medical examination, a thorough personal background check, a psychological examination, a complete drug and alcohol screening, and an oral interview.

Middlesex Borough is seeking a part-time Bus Driver for the Department of Senior & Disabled Services.
Candidates must have a high school degree/GED, clean driving record and successful completion of physical, drug test, and NJ State Police Criminal Background Check. CDL license with passenger endorsement a plus.
Expected work week will consist of approximately 15 hours per week Monday – Friday. Competitive Salary.

The Borough of Middlesex seeks a knowledgeable, organized candidate with property maintenance experience and excellent communication skills for the full-time position of Zoning and Code Enforcement Officer. This department head position performs various administrative, technical, and professional work in interpreting and enforcing Borough zoning laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations. Responsibilities include management and enforcement of the rental registration program, inspecting properties to ensure code compliance, investigating and documenting possible violations and taking appropriate action, meeting with and assisting property owners regarding violations or required repairs and proper resolutions, preparing and issuing notifications, warnings, and violations, issuing summonses where appropriate and keeping accurate documentation. The officer oversees the Construction Office and provides staff support to the Joint Land Use Board (Planning & Zoning). Responsibilities include work performed in the field, frequent driving, and office data entry work. The position requires thorough knowledge of local codes, ordinances and related legal procedures. Must be able to: enforce regulations with firmness, tact, impartiality, and diplomacy; maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, and officials and interact effectively and courteously with the public. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Valid driver’s license. Working knowledge of office computer use and Spatial Data Logic (SDL). Duties include investigating complaints, opening and closing all investigations including appearing in court on behalf of the Borough, answering complaints regarding property maintenance, zoning ordinance complaints/inspections and maintaining all reports. Familiarity with SDL and strong organizational skills are a must. EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in property maintenance and zoning codes. State Zoning certification (NJAPZA) required or to be obtained within the first year of employment. College degree and/or coursework in planning, construction, or related subjects preferred.
