  • The Middlesex Borough Police Department is currently accepting applications for School Crossing Guards. School Grossing Guards work approximately two to three hours per day.   • HIRING ANNOUNCEMENT – POLICE OFFICER

    The Middlesex Borough Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.  Applicants must be of high moral character and aptitude. A copy of the candidate's Police Training Certificate or eligibility is to accompany each resume, along with a completed Preliminary Application. 

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    • All applicants must meet the qualifications as specified in N.J.S.A. 40A:14-122. 

    In addition, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

    • Applicant must be a resident of the State of New Jersey at the time of appointment.

    • Applicant must be at least 21 years of age and no more than 35 years of age at the time of appointment.

    • Applicant must have a valid New Jersey driver’s license at the time of appointment.

    • Applicant must an approved combination of one or more of the following: 

      • a minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited college or university, or

      • a minimum of four years of active duty in the United States Armed Forces, or

      • three years of employment as a certified police officer through the NJ Police Training Commission

    • Applicant must possess a current Police Training Commission (PTC) BCPO certificate, PTC Class II Waiver eligibility / GAP Program eligibility, or be currently enrolled in the Alternate Route Program in a PTC certified State of NJ Police Academy; successfully pass a medical examination, a thorough personal background check, a psychological examination, a complete drug and alcohol screening, and an oral interview.

  • Middlesex Borough is seeking a part-time Bus Driver for the Department of Senior & Disabled Services.

    Candidates must have a high school degree/GED, clean driving record and successful completion of physical, drug test, and NJ State Police Criminal Background Check. CDL license with passenger endorsement a plus.

    Expected work week will consist of approximately 15 hours per week Monday – Friday. Competitive Salary.

    The Borough of Middlesex Police Department is seeking a full-time Records Clerk. Under supervision and direction, the Records Clerk is responsible for varied clerical work of moderate complexity involving the processing and keeping of varied police records, reports, and discovery and related work as required.

    Examples of the Records Clerk duties include: Maintaining and organizing general office files and other incidental office records; filing confidential police records pertaining to criminal matters; providing information to the general public; replying to routine correspondence with other police departments, law enforcement agencies, and legal representatives; compiling and disbursing legal discovery and digital media preparation for Municipal and Superior Court prosecution; maintaining Police Department records in accordance with the NJ Division of Archives & Records Management Guidelines including classifying, indexing and cross referencing records and files; aiding in the expungement of records; receiving and completing Open Public Records Act requests (OPRA), which may require coordinating with other departments; utilizing various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems, including but not limited to body worn camera software and programs, electronic redaction programs, surveillance recordings, etc.; other miscellaneous duties which may be assigned.

    The ideal candidate will possess an excellent command of the English language, basic math skills, excellent keyboarding skills, knowledge of office procedures, practices, equipment, proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); the ability to learn how to use the electronic recordation, redaction, and various computer programs used for records retention; accurate filing and retrieval skills regarding reports and documents; the ability to communicate with the public and other employees in a courteous and professional manner; and the ability to make sound decisions in accordance with department policies and procedures.

    All candidates must be 18 years or older, a citizen of the United States, and have obtained a High School or Vocational Diploma, or an approved High School Equivalency Certificate. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in clerical or data entry is required. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

  • The Borough of Middlesex is currently seeking applicants for the part-time Administrative Assistant Position in the Clerk’s Department for 25 hours per week. The desired candidate for the position will report directly to the Municipal Clerk and must have excellent written and effective communication skills with attentiveness to detail and the ability to provide exceptional customer service. Also, the candidate must be able to perform duties assigned by the Municipal Clerk including, but not limited to, interacting with the public, Processing Vehicle Registrations/Titles/Insurance Cards, handle Insurance Claims, OSHA Reporting, processing OPRA requests, and issuing various licenses in the Clerk’s Department.   • The Part-Time Zoning and Construction Clerk provides administrative support for zoning and construction activities, including permit processing, scheduling inspections, and assisting the public with inquiries. This role ensures compliance with municipal regulations and supports the Planning and Zoning Boards (JLUB). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Answer phone calls and respond to voicemail messages promptly; Address public inquiries regarding permits, certificates, enforcement complaints, violations, and planning/zoning applications; Process, monitor, and issue permits, certificates, and planning/zoning (JLUB)applications; Schedule and prepare inspections for all inspectors, record inspection results in the system; Order office supplies and forms as needed; Prepare and issue CCO/CLO, zoning permits, street opening permits, and tree permits; Deposit all collected fees and maintain accurate records; Follow up with board applicants regarding insufficient escrow funds; Process incoming and outgoing mail and maintain organized filing systems; Perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent; prior clerical or municipal experience preferred; strong organizational and communication skills; Proficiency in computer systems and data entry; Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time, 25 Hours per week.
